KRISTIE KOSMIDESKristie Fujiyama Kosmides is a fourth-generation Japanese American born in Hilo, Hawaiʻi. Inspired by fleeting moments of life and nature, her work captures an energy that is both serene and powerful and is often composed at a grand scale.
Kristie earned her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design, where she received the Department Chair Award. She has studied painting under Linus Chao, Alyssa Monks, and Vincent Desiderio. Kristie has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, and her commissioned work includes installations for the Honolulu International Airport, Hawaiʻi State Capitol Building, Sheraton Maui, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health, and Kapiʻolani Medical Center. |
KALANI LARGUSA
Kalani Largusa is a local Hawaiʻi artist from Kapahi, Kauaʻi. He divides his time between painting on his home island and working out of his studio on Oʻahu. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree from University of Hawaiʻi in the spring of 2016. Kalani previously studied drawing and illustration at the California College of Arts [CCA] and received his Bachelor of Fine Art in painting studio practice from the School of Art Institute of Chicago [SAIC] in 2013.
Kalani’s work centers on the process of painting filtered through Polynesian tattoo symbolism and methodology, and ‘almost western’ comic book iconography. Whether he is invested in sharp detailed draftsmanship within his intimate mixed-media journals, or large abstract paintings, his work is ultimately an investigation of marks and time. With endless curiosity Kalani Largusa approaches painting as an ongoing investigation into current day mark-making, time, and the dynamic, interconnected occurrences of himself, ourselves, and our broader world. The work speaks to a number of discussions active in relation to contemporary painting today.

JONATHAN SWANZI have been crafting art for over 20 years with a refinement in the glass techniques of blowing, casting, carving, and sculpting. I am committed to both the preservation of tradition and creative invention. My studio practice fluctuates between abstract sculpture, functional design, site specific performance, and architectural installations.
As a young artist I apprenticed with master glass artists across Europe and the United States, including Paris, Venice, Copenhagen, New York, Seattle, and Chicago. As an established artist I have completed extensive commercial and residential architectural commissions in Cincinnati, OH, Indianapolis, IN, Louisville, KY, the Hawaiian islands, Los Angeles, CA, New York, NY, and Barcelona, Spain. I have pieces in the permanent collections of 21C Museum and Hilliard Lyons of Louisville, KY, the Headley Whitney Museum of Lexington, KY, the Hawaiʻi State Art Museum, the Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women and Children, Park Lane Ala Moana, and PNC Bank of New York, NY. |
